GALICIA

AS I'M DRIVING AROUND GALICIA I NOTICE THAT MANY HOUSES HAVE THESE SMALL HOUSES THAT LOOK LIKE LITTLE CHAPELS OR MAYBE SPIRIT HOUSES.  TURNS OUT THAT THEY ARE BUILT TO PUT GRAIN AND SEEDS AT A HEIGHT AWAY FROM RATS AND ANIMALS THAT MIGHT FEAST ON THEM.  EVEN SOME APARTMENTS HAVE THEM EVEN IN FRONT OF THE WINDOW SO THEY EXCLUDE THE LIGHT.
I'M STRUCK BY THE AMOUNT OF STROLLS AND WALKS THAT THE SPANIARDS TAKE  ABSOLUTELY  FROM EARLY MORNING UNTIL MIDNIGHT AND LATER.  COUPLES, FAMILIES, CHILDREN, ELDERLY AND THOSE PUSHING WHEELCHAIRS - ALL OUT AND ABOUT
THERE ARE VERY AVID FISHERMEN HERE.  I WAS CAMPED DOWN BY THE PORT LAST NIGHT AND PEOPLE WERE STILL FISHING AFTER MIDNIGHT.  WHEN I WOKE UP THIS MORNING THERE WERE STILL FISHERMEN AND SOME LOOKED THE SAME AS LAST NIGHT.  DON'T KNOW IF THEY DIDN'T GO TO BED OR GOT UP REALLY EARLY
A FEW EXAMPLES OF THE GRAIN HOUSES
