Life has been so busy and I've been very neglectful about keeping up on the Blog but now I'm on the road again in my VW camper Brandy. I left Kenmare, Ireland last week on the overnight ferry from Rosslare to Roscoff in Brittany. I'm hoping to wander around La Belle France for about five months if all goes well. I have no itinerary at all except to head south to tourist areas before high season arrives and try to be in quiet areas during July and August.
Goodbye to Ireland for a while. The receding coastline and sunset on the ocean. My first impression of Brittany was all those cream stone houses with full, old fashioned roses all around the doors. Unfortunately in rather heavy traffic I couldn't get a picture of them.
I am a "mature" wanderer from Ireland who always wanted to travel. I worked in the USA, Germany and Italy while raising my four children but now I'm free and retired so I started living in Chiang Mai, Thailand for four months a year. From there I have visited most of Asia. I travel usually alone using buses, trains,
whatever is moving in the area.
I bought a VW California camper van and spend four or five months a year visiting a country on the continent. I love
the community of motor home travellers and the ease of finding parking and camping spots all over the continent. I
attempt to get to know each country well by travelling slowly and studying the language
The remaining months of the year are spent in Ireland frequently at Trad music festivals where I stay in Brandy often parked at beaches
My motto is "Life is what happens to you when you have other plans"
A great life and long may it last. I'm so lucky
